IISG Secretariat conducts consultations with Albanian governance structures

The IISG Secretariat conducted consultations with Albanian governance structures in Tirana within the framework of regular engagement with Western Balkans partners and ongoing activities under the RCC Security Governance Hub.

The consultations gathered representatives of the Ministry of Interior of Albania, Albanian Police, the Countering Violent Extremism Center, and the IISG Secretariat to discuss developments across the three IISG pillars: WBCTi, WBCSCi, and WBBSi.

During the consultations, the IISG Secretariat presented ongoing developments related to regional needs mapping, donor coordination processes, project implementation, and the operational transition towards the Security Governance Hub under the RCC framework. Particular emphasis was placed on preparations for the upcoming 8th IISG Board Meeting, as well as on strengthening evidence-based and data-driven security governance processes across the Western Balkans.

The IISG Secretariat also briefed participants on ongoing support provided to the implementation monitoring of the Joint Action Plan on CT and P/CVE in the Western Balkans, in support of the development of CT & P/CVE Roadmaps aligned with EU standards and JAP objectives. Discussions highlighted the importance of clear indicators, measurable targets, implementation timelines, and institutional coordination mechanisms in advancing regional security priorities.

Throughout the consultations, the IISG Secretariat presented updates related to the IISG Database, including developments in needs mapping, analytical functionalities, and regional reporting processes. Particular attention was given to the role of the IISG Database as a regional coordination and analytical platform supporting donor coordination, identification of gaps and overlaps, strategic planning, and visibility of ongoing support initiatives across the region.

The consultations reaffirmed Albania’s continued engagement within RCC/IISG processes and underlined the importance of regular coordination, regional cooperation, and evidence-based security governance in the Western Balkans.
